privacy240.jpgCancer Council Tasmania acknowledges a responsibility of confidentiality to protect individuals’ personal and/or sensitive information. This extends to the collection and management of information held in our records for individuals.

We are a non-government community based not for profit organisation whose core business is cancer control. We assure the community of our commitment to privacy of personal information.

We may be required to disclose relevant personal information to third parties in order to provide the service you have requested.

We recognise how important the privacy of your personal information is to you. We will therefore, at all times, seek to ensure that the personal information we collect and hold is protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000, effective 21 December 2001, sets out guidelines which regulate how private sector organisations should treat personal and/or sensitive information they collect, use, handle or store.

Cancer Council Tasmania administers its policy according to the National Privacy Principles detailed in our Privacy procedure (Cancer Council Tasmania Procedure Manual). A copy of this document is available upon request.

This policy will be reviewed by the senior management meeting every 12 months to ensure that it remains relevant and appropriate.
