Launceston teams are welcome to bring their own BBQs to Launceston Relay For Life, 2019. If teams intend to do so, they must follow the health and safety guidelines set out by City of Launceston and Consumer, Building & Occupational Services.

Gas Appliance Health & Safety Guidelines:

-2 sides of marquee must be open for adequate ventilation at all times while operating gas appliances within a tent or marquee

-Ensure there is enough clearance around the gas appliance if being used inside a tent or marquee (minimum of 200mm from tent wall).

-Check gas cylinders are free of excessive rust, dents or damage

-Check the condition of the gas hose connection rubber seals (these can be a cone shape or an O-ring which it inserts into the gas cylinder)

-When connecting the hose to the gas cylinder, perform a soapy water check on this, and all other connection points, with the gas on checking for bubbles. Click here to access information on how to perform a soapy water check

-Check the gas cylinder is turned off before disconnecting

Please note: It is the responsibility of teams to ensure the safety of themselves and those around them when operating gas appliances. Contact lwilson@cancertas.org.au or call 03 6779 1109 if you would like to bring a BBQ or other gas appliances to Launceston Relay For Life 2019.
