Where the money goes
The Cancer Council Tasmania provides many services right around the state. It has four regional Cancer Support Centres - Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport - open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday for people seeking support or information.
Resources available at our centres or from the Cancer Council Helpline include videos, booklets, brochures and pamphlets with information on all aspects of cancer ranging from prevention, early detection and diagnosis through to treatment and recovery. |

Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20
The Cancer Council Helpline provides information about cancer and support services for the cost of a local call. It identifies the specific needs of the caller and links them to the best possible source of assistance.
Support groups
Support groups for people with cancer and their family members generally meet monthly. The safe environment of a support group fosters discussion and sharing of ideas. It is also an opportunity to explore coping strategies, stress management and issues around an individual's cancer.
Living with Cancer education programs
Living with Cancer is an 8-week program in which participants have the opportunity to develop skills to enhance quality of life as well as learn about resources and support networks in their communities and exchange information with other participants.

Cancer Council Nurses Cancer Council Nurses can meet with patients in their home or somewhere convenient to provide information and address emotional and practical needs. The nurses can also provide referral and access to other practical and support services.
Patient transport service
Late last year the Cancer Council Tasmania launched a new patient transport system to ease the cancer journey for many Tasmanians. transport 2 treatment has been a wonderful success making
over 4000 passenger trips in its first 12 months – that's hundreds of patients from around the state making multiple journeys.
The Look Good...Feel Better program
Look Good...Feel Better workshops are offered to women who are currently undergoing cancer treatment. The workshops are supported by the cosmetics industry.
Cancer Connect
Cancer Connect is a peer support program that links a person needing support with a trained support volunteer who has been through a similar experience. This enables a person to talk to someone who knows what it’s like to be diagnosed with cancer, someone who can provide encouragement and hope.
Cancer PLUS
Cancer PLUS is a Tasmanian program set up by the Cancer Council to educate, support, serve and advocate for families of children with cancer, survivors of childhood cancer, and the professionals who care for them.
