Volunteer for us
Our volunteers play a vital role within Cancer Council Tasmania (CCT). Our people are our biggest asset and around 90% of our workforce is made up of volunteers. Without their dedication and efforts CCT would not be able to deliver its important services and support to those Tasmanian’s impacted by cancer.
CCT encourages individuals of all ages and backgrounds to consider volunteering with us and we welcome enquiries from anyone considering joining our team.
Why volunteer?
By volunteering with CCT you will be helping fellow Tasmanian’s impacted by cancer.
Individuals volunteer for many personal reasons. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, utilise your current skills for a meaningful cause or maybe learn a new skill. You can also gain satisfaction in being able to make a personal difference to the lives of others.
Volunteering opportunities
We have a variety of roles available to suit your experience, skills, interests and availability. Options include:
- Driving people to their cancer treatment
- Be a welcoming presence within our Cancer Support Centres
- Co-facilitating a support or walking group
- Joining a committee to help plans and coordinate events
- Helping out at our Clothes4Cancer Opportunity Shop
- Lending a hand at our events and fundraisers
- Office-based support roles

VOLUNTEER IN THE SPOTLIGHT
For anyone on the North West Coast who has used our transport2treatment service, the name Trevor Snooks may ring a bell.
Trevor has been behind the wheel as a volunteer driver for 15 years and has transported hundreds of people to their cancer medical appointments over that time.
Trevor SnooksI had my own journey with cancer and I had just retired from work. At that particular stage the Cancer Council were considering starting the tranport2treament service up. So I said to my wife this could be enough to keep me going whilst I’m retired."
Cancer Council Tasmania Volunteer
Trevor was also the awarded Volunteering Tasmania’s 2022 Lifetime Achievement Volunteer Award. This annual Award is presented to one Tasmanian individual in recognition of outstanding volunteer contributions accumulated over a minimum of 25 years. Not just for his involvement with t2t, but with Relay For Life as an event committee member, assisting at other CCT events and or course his three decades of involvement with AFL Burnie Auskick and District Little League.
