We always have opportunities for volunteers to join in the fight against cancer. If you can spare some time please contact us at any of our statewide Cancer Support Centres.
Statewide volunteer opportunities:
transport 2 treatment volunteer drivers
transport 2 treatment (t2t) is a no cost service for patients who otherwise could not get to and from cancer treatment. t2t offers a safe and supportive environment for patients.
This service is made possible by our dedicated and caring team of volunteer drivers who undertake appropriate support training. t2t is funded entirely by Cancer Council Tasmania through events such as Relay For Life and the generous sponsorship of Mitsubishi Australia/DJ Motors Hobart.
This is an extremely popular program with volunteers so we don’t always have immediate opportunities available but we welcome applications from those interested in future voluntary t2t driving opportunities. All t2t driver applicants must hold a full driving licence and will be required to produce, or undergo at our expense, a satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencing with the t2t Program.
If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer t2t driver please call or email Henry Finnis hfinnis@cancertas.org.au or 03 6233 5364.

Volunteer opportunities in the South:
Cancer Support Group Facilitator/Co-Facilitator opportunity
Cancer Council volunteer support group facilitators and co-facilitators help organise and support a range of regionally based cancer support groups.
We are seeking applications from people interested in being considered for this very important volunteering opportunity.
Applicants will be required to attend an initial selection interview with our regional Senior Support Officer in Hobart and, if assessed potentially suitable for the role, will be invited to attend a support group facilitator training session. On successfully completing their training volunteers will be allocated to individual cancer support groups by our regional Senior Support Officer as agreed with each volunteer.
We’re currently seeking applicants to become facilitators and cofacilitators for Prostate Cancer, Bowel Cancer and Generic Cancer Support Groups in the following Southern areas:
- Hobart
- Tasman Peninsula
- Huon
- Eastern Shore
Due to the specialised nature of the training required and the need to provide stable support for cancer support groups a minimum commitment of two years in this role is preferred.
If you enjoy assisting people, have good organisational and listening skills, and particularly but not necessarily if you have previous personal experience with cancer, find out more about becoming a trained Cancer Support Group facilitator by contacting Henry Finnis at the Cancer Council (03 6233 5364) or by registering interest in becoming one of our support group facilitators or co-facilitators though this website.
Health promotion volunteer opportunity
Cancer Council Tasmania's SunSmart Program aims to assist the Tasmanian community to get the latest information on safe sun exposure and to implement measures to actively encourage behaviour that minimises skin damage and skin cancer risk.
Cancer Council Tasmania needs a volunteer looking for an immediate opportunity to help the SunSmart program officer to promote and manage the SunSmart Program from its Hobart offices in Collins Street on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
This opportunity would suit a self starter with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office who likes working relatively autonomously within a small team under broad guidance. Specific training and education about the SunSmart Program will be provided as necessary. Particular help will be required to liaise with schools and early childhood centres for registration renewals and policy updates.
If you are interested in finding out more about this new opportunity please call or email Henry Finnis hfinnis@cancertas.org.au or 03 6233 5364. Home > About Us > Information > Support > Get Involved > Professional Information > Healthy Living > Contact Us |
