Tobacco smoking is the single largest cause of preventable death and disease in our community. Tobacco accounts for over 19,000 deaths each year in Australia and is responsible for 82% of all drug-caused deaths.

Tobacco is a major risk factor for several cancers, cardiovascular diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory diseases, asthma, low birth weight babies and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
