A SunSmart school is one with a comprehensive sun protection policy implemented through all school activities. Primary schools that meet set criteria are eligible to become recognised as SunSmart Schools through the National SunSmart Schools Program.

There are many good reasons to become a SunSmart School:
Sunsmart reading for today it complements the health program at the school and helps in raising awareness about the importance of sun protection among parents, students and staff
Sunsmart reading for today it contributes to the creation of a school environment that helps to prevent skin damage and the development of skin cancer
Sunsmart reading for today it helps to promote and support positive sun protective behavious like hat wearing
Sunsmart reading for today it can help to raise the profile of the school within the community.
